The Kansas Lottery Commission is to decide between two applicants who have applied to operate the state owned Casino in Wyandotte County. Speedway and the Penn National Gaming are competing to make it to the end.
The applications which are in for the operation will be short listed and the selection will be forwarded for further decision to the review board by June 25, 2009.
Of the several competitors who have applied, there seems to be fierce offers from Penn's and the Speedway.
Penn’s have made their proposal for $539 million. Speedway has made their proposal for $521 million.
The Penn National Gaming will be spending nearly $385 million for the initial operations. The expenditure will also consist of bills towards slot machines and also towards a 250-room hotel.
Speedway will be spending on the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino complex at the state-owned track in two phases. The proper splits have not been given yet.
Three of other Sumner County applicants are also being heard upon by the Kansas Lottery Commission. It is competition season and the winning proposal in the two counties might be decided upon and declared before the end of June.
It is expected that sooner the economy revives business will pick up soon. This is the reason behind why companies are competing in the now-down casino industry. It should be noted that in the past year the Kansas Lottery Commission did not reject the forwarding of any of the applications for the contracts they were negotiating on. It is expected that every contract will be discussed until the end.
